I just got back from the best comp of the year, the Nate Chute Hawaiian Classic at Big Mountain. There was a good showing this year with all the Big Mountain kids from past and present returning and more. Saturday they ran the Banked Slalom. The course was super good other than it had been really warm earlier on in the week and then froze super hard the previous day. It was solid boilerplate which made it pretty sketch throughout the race. It ran through the built up boardercross course and then down through the gully. No real banks whatsoever in the gully part just an icy, rutty, bobsled run. It still made for some super fun runs though. The second day was the boardercross and the course was really good. It was perfect snow and the course allowed for passing all the way until the end. After the race about 50 riders busted consecutive methods over the first step up in memory of Nate Chute. The best part of the day may have been rallying together about 40 riders at the summit and bombing North Bowl together.
